Due to the urging of my guest today, “Pearls Before Swine” creator Stephan Pastis, we decided to give the video interview thing a whirl. This is my first foray into Skype video recording, and there were a few technical issues…such as the fact the the audio is a separate track and falls out of synch constantly.  So, there are a couple of times where it might look like we’re imitating a Japanese monster movie, but hopefully it isn’t too distracting.

We talked for a good hour and a half, so I’ve broken it down into two parts.  In Part 1, we talk about his foray into web animation, the idea for a “Pearls” movie, his recent trip to Afghanistan with the USO and several other big time cartoonists, and how the retirement of “Cathy” has affected him.  There’s a great story about his “tribute” strips that’s worth the price of admission alone.  And there’s Trivial Pursuit questions!

In Part 2, you’ll get to hear us ramble about films, what a geek I am, and other subjects. Once I finish editing it! Enjoy!
