The winner of the Washington Post’s “America’s Next Great Cartoonist” contest, Olivia Walch joins me to talk about her experience in the contest and how it’s changed her life. Also with us is Michael Cavna, he of the wonderful column/blog “Comic Riffs.” Michael shares with us the behind-the-scenes story of the contest and gives some insight into the whole process.

Also this week, a new segment! Alan Gardner of “The Daily Cartoonist” joins me for a quick rundown of four hot topics over on his site. Alan and I will hopefully be getting together twice a month to bring you a more in-depth discussion about what people are talking about in the industry.  Alan is deeply plugged into the world of comics, both print and online, and it’s going to be great having him on board!

Finally, a bit of charity news: Joel Duggan, amazing cartoonist behind the comic Starcrossed, and ardent supporter of this show, is helping out a very worthy cause in his native Canada. He’s taking part in an auction to raise funds for “Bras Across the Bridge 2010,” which is part of the C100FM and Team Moya Fundraising efforts for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the CIBC Run for the Cure.  Here’s the link to the piece he has up for sale.  Give it a look and see if you can make a bid for an amazingly worthy cause!
